Case Study

We support certain companies behind the scenes providing a ‘white label’ solution that is not immediately visible to the customer. However sometimes our efforts outgrow this.

Here is an example of work we do that is now well known.

Remote Controlled Lighting (RCL)

RCL is an innovative supplier of lighting systems. Based on a patent protected invention, any number of RCL lights can be rotated and positioned using a single,  simple, handheld remote control.

The lights find application in areas where objects are moved frequently, especially museums and art galleries, hotel banqueting halls, shop windows, car showrooms and auction houses.

We manage key aspects of work in Japan for RCL including

  1. market opening

  2. distributor management and support

  3. interaction with approvals processes

  4. marketing

  5. customer support

RCL lights are now in several high profile buildings including Louis Vuitton (Roppongi Hills), Miel Parque (Nagoya), Tama Art University, Garden Gallery (Daikanyama) and most recently the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.

Of course a key part of the success of this project is down to the client. They have taken a long term view, understanding that it takes time for customers to select a new technology over incumbant products and to treat the company as a stable brand.

RCL are responsive to requests for a variety of information and have made important adjustments. For example products had to be fully localised, work not only with the 100V Japanese power supply, but also its variable frequency 50Hz (Tokyo) and 60Hz (Osaka) in different areas of Japan.
